Your USB-C ports are data only so they will not put out a video signal. So a Thunderbolt or Alt-DP based dock will only partially work. No display. Also you will not be able to charge the laptop battery from the dock with a single plug-in so you will have to keep the provided HP adapter in place together with the USB-C dock. What you need is a USB-C dock that included DisplayLink technology. This is essentially a chip in the dock that provides video output from a usb data connection. In fact, they make DisplayLink docks that wil work with a legacy USB-A port. They tend to be larger and a bit more expensive but are readily available on Amazon, etc.
