HP Laptop 15t-dw300
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was about to buy this Laptop last night with Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 (up to 4.2 GHz, 8 MB L3 cache, 4 cores) + Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics & Windows 10 Pro.  I assumed it was Win 11 compatible, decided to chat with Sales (support was closed) and they looked up the model and told me it was not upgradeable. Just trying to understand why as I plan to buy one today and the websites are still vague on what can be upgraded, Thanks

Hi:

According to Microsoft as long as that notebook has a TPM 2.0 device (which is should), it should be able to run W11.

See the specs below...

Windows 11 requirements - What's new in Windows | Microsoft Docs

List of supported Intel processors...8th gen or newer.

I just downloaded the PC Health Check app, although Microsoft has pulled the checker temporarily as it is a little buggy!

Here is I think the best explanation for what is required for the Windows 11 Upgrade https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2021/06/28/update-on-windows-11-minimum-system-requirement...

Sadly at this point my 3 YO laptop doesn't hit the mark, but Windows 10 end of life is 2025!

Cheers!

I have the compatibility list, but even HP is saying that they will indicate which products are compatible, soon. Is it possible that although the processor has TMP 2.0 capability that the architecture of certain BIOS's or motherboards they are installed in, do not support that feature or have it disabled ?

Otherwise, they would easily say processor XYZ and newer will support Win 11 upgrade.

Normally the TPM is enabled by default.

It has been on every HP PC I have owned since 2006 that has one installed.

Since none of us work for or represent HP, no one here would be able to give you a definite answer as to whether or not the PC you want to buy is 100% guaranteed to run W11.

They don't even have drivers released yet for W11.

If you are not in a rush to buy a PC, I recommend you hold off until later this year or early next year.

I have just installed the W11 developers version on a HP Thin Client t630, which is 3 years old, and does not have a supported processor, but does have the supported graphics and TPM 2.0 chip.

It works fine on W11, and I did not have to install any drivers either, which surprised me.

I also have a HP Envy x360 15-ee047nr and the W10 compatibility checker passed it and indicated it can run W11.

That consumer class model is from last year (July 2020), and has a TPM 2.0 chip as well.
