HP Laptop 17-by2053cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I just purchased an HP Laptop 17-by2053cl, and would like to know if I can add a second HDD/SSD to this unit? I can't seem to find an answer to this question without having to open it up. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

You have a 1 TB 5400 rpm mechanical hard drive in there now.

HDD in green square...M.2 in red circleHDD in green square...M.2 in red circle

You have an open M.2 slot which can accept a 2280 form factor "gumstick" SSD of the fastest variety; NVME. Adding that component and reconfiguring the software so that the M.2 is the primary bootdisk is like night and day....boot time slashed, programs open effortlessly in a snap. I will never again own a computer where the OS is running from a mechanical hard drive.

Huffer,

Thank you very much. I appreciate the information you supplied. I recently added an SSD to my 2011 Dell XPS laptop as the boot disk and like you said, it's a night and day difference.

Stay safe and healthy.

Paul
