Microsoft Windows 11

I am planning to upgrade the memory on my new laptop. It looks like my system can support up to 2x32 GB DD4 SODIMMS.  I wanted to confirm what actually works as the current configuration is 1x8 GB, 1x4GB.  I am planning to upgrade to 1x8GB, 1x16GB. In theory this should work.

I am looking for the service manual for an HP 17" Pavilion 27-cn1063cl. I have found the product specifications from the HP web site and the description from Costco. I am unable to find the actual service manual.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info.

According to chapter 1, the max memory is 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200.

I would imagine the notebook can support more memory than that.

You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can actually support.

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

I'm pretty sure you will find that it supports 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.
