- Good evening I was wondering, could I upgrade my laptop's ram with a twin 16 gb kit or a CORSAIR - VENGEANCE Series 32GB (1x32GB) DDR4 3200MHz C22 SODIMM Laptop Memory - Black?? I would like to know, would it speed up my user interface with the laptop, are there any downsides?

Hi:
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.
The notebook may support 2 x 16 GB of memory.
Run this command to see if it is possible:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

HP notebooks have a bit of a checkered history with "performance" or "gaming" memory. The Corsair Vengeance is a fairly stock latency of CL=22 for DDR4-3200. However, it has still historically caused some issues. You would be better of with stock Crucial or Hynix or some other OEM grade memory. Compatibility is the other part of the equation. @Paul_Tikkanen has covered the max capacity part perfectly
