So I ordered a RAM 2 stick to 8 GB memory kit... Then I open the case and find it only has one memory slot... And if that isn't weird enough... my task master shows 1 of 2 slots being used??? for a total of 2 gb of working ram... Anyone have a clue of how to figure this out?

@RolyRhodes

Your machine has 3GB (2GB + 1GB) of RAM pre-installed. Its specs

It supports 8GB of RAM max. It is an old style machine therefore it should have 2 slots, one on the top of other OR it can have the second slot under the keyboard. (very rare).

I actually had the wrong model number listed... It is a HP Notebook 15-f222wm... And it currently has 4GB installed from the factory on one ram stick. Therefore, I think it's safe to say that the single slot 8GB ram stick will work in the same slot. Also, this notebook does not have a second memory slot... I looked behind the keyboard. Nothing there. Thanks for the info. I am currently waiting for the 8 GB stick to arrive  by mail. Hopefully this will settle the problem... Roly
