Hi!
I am trying to connect my generic docking station to my HP 17, I want to connect 2 external monitors for a total of 3 displays but my laptop does not detect my dockinhg station/monitors (HDMI connections). Is there a fix???
I have disconnected and reconnected everything
I have reset everything
I have purchased a 2nd docking station
I have downloaded/installed drivers and graphics
I don't know what else to do???
I keep reading the laptop is compatible with a docking station, if so...what is the fix???

Hi @StarCoop2018
Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.
I see that you are facing connection-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.
- May I know from when are you facing this issue?
- Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?
- What happens when you connect only one monitor at one time?
If you have checked and cleaned the connections and your docking station is still not working properly, restart the computer. Restarting allows the computer to run its configuration process again and find all of the connections it needs to run properly. Undock the computer from the docking station.

Hi!
I have made no hardware changes to any systems on my laptop. The issue happens with the docking station connected. When 1 monitor is connected directly to the laptop by HDMI the laptop will detect external monitor.
I have cleaned, disconnected, reconnected all ports and connections. I have shutdown and restarted my laptop many times.
I have downloaded recommended drivers, as well as product specific drivers for the Monitors! The Docking station is plug and play so no drivers, only USB C to USB A connection.
Nothing works to get the laptop to detect the docking station/monitors are connected. I have a need for 2 HDMI monitors to be connected to my laptop but my laptop only has 1 HDMI port.

Hi!
I am using a generic brand docking hub vs a HP Branded docking system…the setup is USB vs laptop to direct docking connection. None of the pictures in the guide for your reply are relevant or related to my product. I really just think the product isn’t compatible. Thank you.
