I have a HP Pavillion Model 15T-EG200
The power jack will not light up and charge when a known good power supply is plugged into it.
The jack is not loose or damaged and the pin is centered. It all looks normal.
Gently jiggling the power cord plug while plugged into the jack does not help.
The laptop itself will power up and work normally under battery power.
It seems that the jack itself is bad and needs to be replaced.
Are there any checks or troubleshooting that I can do to confirm what the problem is?
I am guessing I only have about an hour left on the battery.

Hi @Phil77778
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like you’ve ruled out common external issues, which makes me suspect either a faulty power jack or an internal component failure affecting charging.
Before considering a replacement, here are some checks you can perform:
1. Check for Charging LED or Battery Indicator
- Even if the jack isn’t lighting up, does Windows recognize charging?
- Go to Settings → Battery & Power and see if it shows "Plugged in, not charging."
- If Windows detects the charger but the battery isn’t charging, it may be a battery issue rather than the jack.
2. Test with Another Charger
- Since you’re using a known good power supply, confirm the voltage and amperage match exactly.
- If possible, try another HP charger (with identical specs) to rule out a problem with the adapter itself.
3. Inspect the Power Port for Dirt or Damage
- Even if the jack looks fine, dust or oxidation inside could prevent a solid connection.
- Use compressed air or a small brush to clean the charging port carefully.
4. Run HP Battery Diagnostic
- If your laptop still has power:
- Open HP Support Assistant → Run Battery Check.
- If your battery health is poor, charging may be affected.
5. Check BIOS Charging Settings
- Restart the laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for power management settings and ensure charging isn't disabled.
- Sometimes, a BIOS update can resolve charging recognition issues.
6. Try a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the charger and hold the power button for 30+ seconds.
- Plug the charger back in and see if it starts charging.
If the laptop still refuses to charge, the jack may truly need replacement—at that point, reaching out to HP phone support or a technician would be best.
Let me know what results you get! Since your battery is low, I’d prioritize testing another charger if you have one available.

After repeated trys the AC Adapter test failed with Failure ID GK471T-BASCL3-MFPX0K-C1CM03.
Battery and Fast System checks passed.
A Hard Reset did not help.
I blew the jack port out with compressed air. No help.
I was down to 22% battery life after the above so I was reluctant to do any more testing. Once the battery runs out I am totally screwed.
Where to next?
is there any workaround to get the battery charged?
Thanks for any help

It sounds like your HP laptop’s power jack is failing to charge, and with only 22% battery left, you need a quick solution. Since the AC Adapter test failed with Failure ID GK471T-BASCL3-MFPX0K-C1CM03, this likely indicates a hardware issue with the charging port, adapter, or motherboard.
