HP Laptop 14-cf2701ds (6L6Y1UA)

Hi could you please help me. I recently acquired a HP Laptop 14-cf2701ds. The first time I powered it up I saw this error message...

"The system bios has detected your notebook PC was placed in hibernation to avoid overheating .

The system is now operating normally and your data should remain intact.

Overheating may occur if the cooling vents are blocked or the operating temperature exceed the specification. The notebook PC should return to normal operation once the situation is resolved.

System Temperature (90D)"

The moment I click the "Enter" button...  after a few seconds it Shuts down.

This has gone on so many times. I tried Diagnostic tools but half way through the PC shutdown again.

Could please help me

You said you acquired it -- was this a used laptop you got from someone? Or was it a new one that you bought yourself?

It's a NEW one

OK, so this laptop has overheated -- to the point that it shut down automatically -- and it may have been damaged in the process.

Sorry, but modern laptops tend to run hot. With the lighter cases, smaller sizes, faster processors, and more power graphics chips, the combination drives up the heat and can overpower the fan(s).

These laptops use Lithium-Ion batteries -- the same technology in use in lots of smartphones -- and the same techology that caused Samsung phones to catch fire and explode some years ago. So while the laptop is charging, it can get VERY hot -- hot enough to burn you, in some cases.

If you disconnect the charger and the laptop cools down a little, that is because the battery is not charging anymore.

If you put the laptop in a case or bag while it is sleeping, it can get hot enough to shut down and even, hot enough to damage itself -- and if that happens, it will not run again.
