My HP laptop often when powered ON, is stuck displaying nothing. A black lit up screen, no HP logo, nothing. Sometimes takes more than 30 mins to even show th HP logo. It's 8 years old, 4GB ram and got SSD installed a couple years back. i3 processor. Did run diagonastic check on the drive, which showed PASSED. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi @ashkya5,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop is experiencing some hardware or possibly even firmware issues. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check power supply: Make sure your laptop is receiving adequate power. Try plugging it into a different power outlet or using a different power adapter if available.
- Reset power: Sometimes, laptops can get into a state where they won't boot properly. Try disconnecting the power adapter, removing the battery (if it's removable), and then holding down the power button for about 30 seconds. Afterward, reconnect the power and try turning it on again.
- Check RAM and SSD: Since you've upgraded the RAM and installed an SSD, it's possible that one of these components is causing the issue. Try reseating the RAM modules and the SSD to ensure they are properly connected. If you have spare RAM or an SSD, you could also try swapping them out to see if the problem persists.
- Check for overheating: Overheating can cause various issues including slow boot times or failure to boot. Make sure the laptop's vents are clear of dust and debris, and consider using a cooling pad to help dissipate heat.
- Update firmware and drivers: Make sure your laptop's firmware (BIOS/UEFI) is up to date, as well as your drivers. You can usually find updates on the HP website.
- Perform a clean boot: Sometimes, software conflicts can cause boot issues. Try booting into Safe Mode or performing a clean boot to see if the problem persists. If the laptop boots successfully in Safe Mode or with a clean boot, it's likely that a software conflict is causing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
