HP Recommended

I've been recycling my family with new HP laptops about every 3 years for over 20 years.   I always buy 3 at a time and the last 3 that I purchased for my family will no longer work with my 12VDC charger and it appears to be because of the new 3 wire charger configuration.   For all HP Laptops in the past, it was a simple  matter of supplying the 12VDC charger set at the required output  voltage and with older HPs requiring 19VDC and more recently with 3 new ones stating a need for  19.5VDC.   Along with the new HP 19.5VDC 120VAC power supply came a third wire and what is labeled as "Sens" on a pin-out (stamped on the Genuine HP power supply casing) that shows the outer ring of the "blue plug" to be (-) the interior shell  to be 19.5VDC (plus) and the tiny pin in the center marked as "SENS".    Measuring the voltage on the blue plug on the end of the charger, I see 19.5VDC between ground (outer shell) and the inner shell being positive.   On the "SENS" wire I measure either 13.3VDC or occasionally 11.9V with only the bare plug exposed.   I can no longer use my 12VDC charger to supply negative on the outer shell and positive 19.5VDC on the inner shell as I could with all laptops prior to this current generation.    What do I need to do with the "SENS" lead  to cause the laptop to reject the charge voltage as I specified.   There is no over voltage error, it's just as if the laptop is not connected because the 19.5VDC on the outer and inner rings don't show the laptop to be connected to power.     I'd like to be able to run my laptop off the 90W 12VDC charger for years and I cannot figure out the new 3 wire charging function because you provide no documentation.

Can you please advise if there is any way to use the old 12VDC laptop-generic, voltage switchable power supply, e.g. perhaps by tying the "SENS" wire to either ground, positive or add an additional resource to provide 13.3VDC or to simply let the "SENS" lead float and will any of these methods allow the laptop to again be off a 12VDC charger.   I'm trying to determine what is keeping the 19.5VDC on the inner and outer shrouds to the "SENS" wire to fool the laptop into accepting the old 2-wire 19.5VDC that all your laptops accepted in the past.    To be quite honest, I am going too have to look for a different laptop maker if I can't get this resolved.  THANKS!
