Hi @Sumannnn,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with typing the colon or semicolon keys on your HP Notebook 15-Ay22ne laptop, there are a few possible solutions you can try.
- Check the keyboard layout: Ensure that you're using the correct keyboard layout for your laptop. Sometimes, the layout settings can be changed accidentally, leading to different key mappings. You can check and adjust the keyboard layout settings in the Control Panel or settings menu of your operating system.
- Test the keys in different applications: Try typing the colon and semicolon keys in various applications like Notepad, Word, or a web browser. This will help determine if the issue is specific to a particular program or affects the entire system.
- Use the on-screen keyboard: If you're unable to type the colon and semicolon keys using the physical keyboard, you can try using the on-screen keyboard instead. To access it on Windows, go to the Start menu, search for "On-Screen Keyboard," and open the application. You can then use your mouse or touchpad to select the colon or semicolon keys.
- Update or reinstall keyboard drivers: Outdated or corrupted keyboard drivers can cause various issues. Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your laptop model. Install the updated drivers and restart your laptop to see if the problem is resolved.
- Check for physical damage: Inspect the colon and semicolon keys on your laptop's keyboard for any physical damage or debris that might be obstructing their operation. If you notice any issues, such as a stuck key or foreign material, gently clean or repair the affected keys. Be cautious while doing this to avoid causing further damage.
- External keyboard: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you can connect an external keyboard to your laptop and use it instead. This will help determine if the problem is specific to the laptop's keyboard or if it's a software-related issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,
I did what you suggested, and there's no physical fault on the key of the colon or semicolon key on my laptop.
My layout is in the US language. I tried the UK as well, it's not typing. I bought my laptop in UAE so it has an Arabic language on each alphabet Arabic and English on the key stokes.
Before it used to be that when I press 2 for @, it used to type " so I fixed that, but with this colon or semi-colon key, I am unable to fix it.
When I tried on the display keyboard, it works but on my physical keyboard, it doesn't. I can type all the keystrokes except 2 which are colon or semicolon, and Sc Print on top of Num lock. These 2 keys don't respond. I'm not concerned about the Sc Print key but more concerned about this 1 key for semi-colon and colon.
