HP Notebook - 15-ba009dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I tried to add a second DDRM 4GB RAM to my HP Notebook - 15-ba009dx. My step father, who's not the most tech savvy,  pried the case open and kind of broke the casing, however it seemed that nothing else was wrong besides him literally snapping the case right before the power button. I installed a 4GB ram alongside the one already in there, and tried to connect everything back together. It seems that it wont turn back on, though if plugged in it will hold a charge. I was wondering if maybe the motherboard got messed up when he snapped it open? If so, what should I do in order to figure out how much repairs will cost?

@tinyfries, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The issue could be with the Motherboard of the PC if the battery is able to hold the charge. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Remove discs and devices

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Remove any discs and USB devices.

  3. Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

  4. Disconnect all non-essential devices such as printers, scanners, external hard drives.

  5. Leave only the mouse, keyboard, and monitor connected.

After you have removed all discs and devices, turn on the computer.

Also, Perform a hard reset

Refer to step 2 mentioned in this document.

If the PC powers ON, run a hardware test.

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. Perform System Test > Extensive test. Share the result on your next post.

Let me know how this goes.
