Hello, I got a HP Notebook - 15-bs015dx for my Daughter for Christmas last year. I bought it at the end of November but the hard drive failed just 6 days after the warranty. It was a floor model and I never got any recovery discs and have to way to get windows for it even after I replace the HD. Any help would be great. My wife took the laptop back to Best Buy and they were no help. Hoping to at least find out how to obtain recovered discs and hopefully HP can get a copy of windows some how? Any direction on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05493257
The hard drive R & R procedure can be found in chapter 6.
If your daughter does not need a lot of hard drive space, you may want to opt for a more reliable, better performing solid state drive. I have the 240 GB model in two of my HP notebooks and 2 of my HP desktop PC's. It works great.
After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall W10 for free as follows...
To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool. Make the 64 bit installation media.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
- Select Download tool now, and select Run.
- If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
- On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
- Select which media you want to use:
- USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
You can also save the W10 ISO file instead of making the bootable USB flash drive installer, and burn it to a DVD using the tool I zipped up and attached below if you would rather use a DVD to reinstall W10.
Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.

I appreciate your help. Your answer confirms what I didn’t want to do. We just bought this thing and now I’ll have to replace the hd and spend almost half the cost of the total laptop on a good hard drive and spend the x amount of hours setting up a boot disc etc. I do appreciate your answer. Just wish there was a faster solution. Hope these other cheap parts hold up. Especially after I dump the time and money into fixing this hd issue. Thanks again. Last hp product we’all own
