Hi:

Your notebook has two memory slots and can support 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-2400 memory according to chapter 1 of the service manual.

HP 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

Chapter 1 also indicates your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports both NVMe and SATA M.2 2280 SSD's.

NVMe SSD's have faster read/write speeds than SATA SSD's have.

The Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates that it will support up to 2 x 16 GB of memory if you want.

HP - Compaq HP 15-da1017tx | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com

You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can actually support:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

About the RAM can it support even DDR4-3200.

HP Recommended

DDR4-3200 memory will work, but it will automatically bridge to 2400 MHz because that is the fastest speed your notebook's i5-8265U processor can run the memory at.

Ok and about The internal SSD how many GB is it supported.

HP Recommended

You should be able to go up to 1 TB if you want.

The drive capacities listed in the manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.

Let's say that I use samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD M.2

Will it work and will the read and write speed increase.

HP Recommended

I wouldn't install the 980 Pro because the M.2 slot is only PCIe Gen 3.

I'd only do that if I planned to transfer the SSD to a PC that has a PCIe Gen 4 M.2 slot.

Stick with the 980 Gen 3.

There is one other thing you should know...

Unfortunately, in the 15-da1xxx model series NVMe SSDs only use two of the 4 PCIe lanes, so any Gen 3 NVMe you install will only run at approximately half of its maximum advertised speed.

The good news is that is still around 3x faster than a SATA SSD would be.

HP Recommended

where do you get the information if it works in PCIe 3 and not PCIe 4.

HP 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

I checked in this information it did not specify which PCIe version.

HP Recommended

The Intel processor specs tell you what PCIe gen the motherboard is.

Take a look at the Intel processor specs I posted earlier today.
