Common problems for Battery

Update on how HP deal with this problem - they don't, I have one under warranty they offered to repair at a cost of £200 currently an ongoing "discussion"  mine was returned with a failing hinge it was then returned back to me with a trashed hinge, screen surround and other bits, no explanation, no apology (obviously as this would amount to an admission) they accused me of causing the damage myself, my advice is DO NOT buy HP, DO NOT expect any customer service.

Some of the posts about hinges are flagged up as "solved" all I see is that the mod who works for HP is saying it will be flagged up with them, I see no genuine solution posted, if you are someone who has experienced this I would like to see if a solution, paying or not was the outcome or were you just fobbed off?

I have also had several Acer laptops, never a problem.

I also sought help with this same issue and was asked to pay over $400 to replace a hinge. Now I have a perfectly powerful laptop that cannot close,  is at risk of being damaged further due to the hinge failing, and has an exposed motherboard. I would love a real solution to these problems as I love my powerhouse of a computer, but cannot afford to buy a new one or pay $400 to replace a HINGE that (laughably) is made out of plastic.

Has anyone actually had a good experience with replacing their hinges? Please let me know!

As with many who try to analyze this, there is a basic fallacy here of lumping this as a problem with "HP" laptops when it is actually a problem with specific models. And it is also not confined to HP. Other manufacturers have hinge problems. They can be repaired. The hinge gives some advance warning of its demise and the problem is much easier and cheaper to repair in its early stages. Having said that, I cannot deny that it is wrong to attribute this to user abuse. It should be handled as a warranty issue and if it is not, I think it should be. I have been answering these posts about hinges for years and have perhaps the advantage of having actually repaired laptops with bad hinges in all states of failure. Only once in a great while does it seem anyone is willing to do the work it takes to properly diagnose what is going on and fix it the right way. Hot glue is not the answer, for example.
