Has HP 'abandoned', the use of Blu-ray drives? I bought my HP Pavilion dv7 6b57nr laptop 'SPECIFICALLY', because it was equipped with a Blu-ray drive. I have a lot of Blu-Ray movies, that I watch on it. I am going to start looking for a newer laptop, and I definitely want it to have, THESE KEY FEATURES....

1. A 17.3 inch display
2. 16Gb RAM
3. Two HDD bays (I will DEFINITELY INCREASE the machine's 'storage' capacity)
4. A Blu-Ray drive (Preferably, with reading AND 'WRITING' capabilities)

That's sad to read/hear. To discard a format, so casually, is just a major tragedy. Blu Ray disc equipped laptops still have a way to go before they're completely obsolete.

Marketing people may have the final say. There are many big screen TV's and we are talking 4K now (8K is on it way) therefore Bluray format is less popular. Optical drive on laptops also is on the way going out.

I don't think vendors (including HP) would release a machine with BluRay burner in future.

Just my 2 cents.
