So I have a HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC and the motherboard, according to some apps, is a Hewett-Packard 1984 motherboard. The current BIOS is from 2013 and I wanted to see if I could get a newer version of the bios because I highly doubt there bios hasn't been updated in 7 years.

If in the case there isn't a bios update, is there an app I can use to check if there's a compatible update with my mobo?

I have an HP laptop that has not had a BIOS update since 2012 -- and that is eight years now, so I am not surprised that your model has not had an update in seven years.  HP is not doing updates for their older model laptops.

As to your question about compatible BIOS apps, sorry the answer is no.

After looking around a bit more, I found that HP has BIOS revisions on their website. After inputting my laptop's info, it brings me to this page:

 https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-17-e000-notebook-pc-series/5375409/mode...

Seeing how there's an updated BIOS from 2017 and that HP showed me this page after inputting my serial number, I would assume that this is compatible with the mobo in my laptop?
