Hie
I Have omen hp 15 2017 it was working fine on battery, but suddenly it powered off and the power light remained on. I tried to power it on but it tried powering on for milliseconds and of again. The battery was around 50% so I connected the charger and it did the same, then I removed the battery and took it back and there was nothing showing including charging light, no power.
I tried resetting, removing Cmos battery but nothing was solved. When I opened the laptop behind the motherboard I discovered there is a part that was very hot with number S88P15. Can it be fixed 😩 i have attached the picture of the component

Hello @Frinom
Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... and I would like to help you.
It is not enough to replace 1 part/component. The cause of the error is not yet clear !
In your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges must be renewed
- The function of the fan(s) must be checked
- Short circuit test
- charger/battery test
- Components test
- General cleaning ...
--- HP warranty valid -> Contact HP Support
--- HP warranty expired:
If you can't do that, you should have it <serviced> by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.
Good luck

Does the power/charge led blink when it is plugged in?
That component is a step down converter. It can be replaced, but probably won't fix the issue. There is highly likely to be a direct short in the system board that has killed the main power bus. It is very likely it is a chipset issue. HP would replace the systemboard if within warranty.
If you are out of warranty and know a laptop shop that as a real component level troubleshooter, it may be worthwhile to give them a shot at it.
It may be time to source a replacement.
