HP OMEN 15-ax208nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, i already searched in the forum and online for a way to check my motherboard compatibility with an M.2 NVMe disk but with no luck. What i would like to know if the board (should be Model 8259) is compatible with an NVMe disk for an upgrade on a 500gb/1TB M,2.

Any info or link to some more information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, the notebook supports M2 PCIe NVMe SSD.H ere is an example:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-omen-15-ax208nl/CT13042888

On page 41 of the service manual you can see the steps to install the drive:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05357609

you will need to install the OS on the SSD for performance gain.

Hope it helps,

David

Hello, thanks for answering! In the first link i've read

storage
Storage: SATA 3 - 6Gb/s
Drive Interface: SATA/M.2 PCIe/SATA
Drive Form Factor: 2.5" and M.2

does this mean that i can "use" the NVMe but that the speed would be capped at the SATA/M.2 speed? For me this would mean it's better to buy a SATA M.2 (since i guess it would be cheaper).

No,

It will be much faster than a SATA3 SSD.

David
