OMEN Laptop - 15-ek0013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

I had 2x8gb of RAM and I wanted to upgrade. I bought the 2x16 memory sticks as per Crucial's recommendation of what will work on my laptop. When I check the BIOS, it only sees 16gb same with windows. Already did a Bios update. Please help. Thanks.

Hi!

New RAM came today. I was right that the issue is that this Omen model only accepts RAMs w/ chips on both sides. All good now.

Hi@xibx,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing RAM issues with the HP Omen Notebook after the upgrade.

The current RAM on this PC is 16 GB DDR4-2933 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB).

I have a few recommendations

  • Primary and expansion memory is installed in a side-by-side configuration in the bottom of the computer. If only one memory module is installed, it must be installed in the socket labeled “1”.

  • Try with alternate RAM and check if it works

  • Try swapping the slots.

  • In Bios look for the “Settings” or “Hardware” menu and click on it. Review the amount of RAM listed in the computer's BIOS. Make sure that the amount of memory reflects your recent upgrade. Press the appropriate key to save the BIOS settings and exit.

  • Two additional memory slots are available under the system board. These are not customer self repair parts.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi!

Thank you for responding. I already returned the new memory sticks. I did your recommendations before I asked for help (aside from the extra memory slots under).

However, I still want to upgrade but I am unsure what to buy. What I did notice is that my current RAM sticks have chips on both sides. The new kit delivered to me only had chips on 1 side. Could that be the issue?

Hi@xibx,

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.

It could be an issue with the RAM sticks so check with alternate one if possible.

I ordered another set of RAM sticks and I'll update this thread if it works. Thanks
