HP OMEN W2N49UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Does anyone know what latest FCBGA1440 socket (i7 CPU) the W2N49UA#ABA  (17-w151nr) laptop can support?

It seems many newer processors continue to use the existing FCBGA1440 socket so I was curious what newer i7 CPU with TDP of 45W (using current MB intel chipset) is supported.

Current CPU: i7-6700HQ

Motherboard ID : 825F

BIOS : F.52-05/02/2019

Thanks!

You can't just look at CPU alone because it is soldered to the system board. Upgrading CPU for your machine means buying new system board (if available) which contains

    (a) Motherboard,

    (b) CPU with integrated video,

    (c) Dedicated Video card,

    (d) Operating system (you can't reuse old license).

All above 4 components are on one piece of hardware called System board. And the series only has 3 options

  • NVIDIA N17E-G1 (GeForce GTX 1060), 6 GB, i7-6700HQ part # 862261-601
  • NVIDIA N17E-G1 (GeForce GTX 1060), 6 GB, i5-6300HQ part # 862262-601
  • NVIDIA N17E-G2 (GeForce GTX 1070), 8 GB, i7-6700HQ part # 862263-601             (your machine)

Looks like your chinne is on the top already.

Regards.

Ah. the CPU is soldered directly to the board. Well that answers that!  🙂
