Hi,
I've just bought an OMEN by HP Laptop 17-cm2xxx with a core i7, 16gb ram and a RTX4060. I am looking to upgrade tyhe ram and just wondered if anyone can tell me what the maximum ram supported is as I've seen both 32gb (HP spec) and 64gb (according to the previous chipset specs) mentioned and have no idea which is the actual max memory supported.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Hi:
Chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide on your notebook model series' support page indicates the max memory is 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200.
Since the service manual seems to be very different than what I expected to find on the support page, not to mention that according to the HP specs your notebook uses DDR5 memory, I recommend that you run this command to see how much memory your notebook can support:
OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck2000 and 17-cm2000 series specifications | HP® Customer Support
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

You're very welcome.
What does your notebook's memory resource monitor app indicate?
I have a HP Envy x360 15-ee0047nr with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor and 16 GB of memory.
I was thinking of installing 2 x 16 GB of memory in mine and the resource monitor indicated that I had 9 GB of free system memory out of 16 GB available.
So, I decided that since I had more than half of the 16 GB of memory doing nothing, that installing 32 GB of memory would provide little or no benefit to me.
Don't you think that 32 GB of memory would be sufficient even in a gaming notebook?

Hello Dragonfliiy.
If you're still following this thread, there's some new information on the forum that suggests that the maximum allowed RAM for your system is 64GB (at least). Read this thread about the Omen 17-ck2000 sibling model: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Does-my-OMEN-17-3-quot-Gaming-... . The 64GB (2x32GB) upgrade option is also seen on the Crucial page for the 17-cm2000 laptop.
