Omen by HP
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HI!

So i bought a brand new Omen by HP little under a month ago and i`m having issues with the CPU reashing 100C under gaming. Is this normal?

I would think that the lifespan of the CPU will be highly reduced when running at those temperatures.

Should i send my pc in for service or jusk ask for my money in return?

PC specs:

- Gtx 1070 max-Q

- i7 8750

- 1080p 144hz g-sync

So after talking to the support team, several phone calls to the thecnical engineers at HP providing them with pictures and video of the heating issues they finnaly launched a new BIOS that have fixed all the heating issues for me. A new mode in the Omen command center (comfort) Has redused tempersatures alot and makes so that the cpu wont throttle anymore. All creds to HP, they are a good company that provides great customer service.

Firstly you can run at 100  Celsius degrees for a short period, not all the time, this will fry its components.

There are many posts around saying Omen's are hot. I have not pushed my machine up that hard but last night (means 8 hours ago) I combined few video clips from my cameras, during the redering process, its fans ran very noisy. I don't think you can return it, I don't know any service can help or not.

By the way, your machine probably is similar to mine. I won't play games, only to edit photos and videos using Adobe products. I actually put my machine on a cool pad and I use external monitor, mouse, keyboard ...

Regards.

Thanks for the reply.

Well it`s a costy gaming laptop so expect it run games without a problem. and it does very much so. It`s just so sad that it reaches so high temperatures. What i would like from HP is a way to control fan speeds or a new BIOS with a better and more agressive fan curv. I mean come on we are in 2018 and all other companies such as Acer, Asus, Dell and MSI offer this kind of software in their laptops, so why cant HP do it?

I will most likely return this laptop because i think HP know that this laptop have heating issues, but they are not capable to fix them.

I bought the PC here in Norway and at the store i bought it they give customers 60 days to decide if they want to keep or return the item. So i can return it without a problem.
