Hi @Justinivatts76,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're unable to highlight text in Microsoft Word using your HP Omnibook touchpad, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check the Touchpad Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad (or Mouse & touchpad settings).
  • Ensure the touchpad is enabled and check if any settings might be affecting its behavior, such as multi-finger gestures or tap-to-click settings.

Update or Reinstall the Touchpad Driver:

  • Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices > Right-click your touchpad and select Update driver.
  • If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling the driver and restarting your computer. Windows will attempt to reinstall it.

Check Word Settings:

  • Ensure there is nothing in Word’s settings or customization that may be interfering with text selection.
  • Try using the keyboard (Shift + arrow keys or Ctrl + Shift + arrow keys) to see if you can highlight text that way.

Try a Different User Profile:

  • Sometimes user profile settings can affect input devices. Try logging into a different user profile or create a new one to see if the problem persists.

Test the Touchpad in Other Applications:

  • Check if the touchpad works normally in other applications (e.g., browsing, file explorer). If the touchpad behaves normally elsewhere, the issue may be isolated to Word.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
