HP Notebook - 15-af101np (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am testing memory in both memory slots.

Product ID: K3D23EA; motherboard: 80CC - version 99.53; BIOS - f.28 - 05-17-2019;

The laptop had HP PC diagnostics UEFI - version 10.7.3.0 installed - spsp157678.exe.

Ran extended memory and CPU tests with no issues.

Ran TPM test - failure code - RK3T3L-85KCJ2-XD7WMF-08HH03

Installed the latest HP PC diagnostics UEFI - version 10.8.0.0

Tried to run CPU test - but after reaching 100%, froze and had to turn off the laptop manually.

Ran TPM test - failure code - RK3T3L-85KCNJ-XD7WMF-08HQ03

Regarding CPU:

I had to blacklist the motherboard, to test memory with memtest86, because UEFI doesn´t support cpu multicore

Is it possible that V10.8.0.0 freezes because of the same reason?

Regarding TPM (version 2):

Is enabled on Bios, detected by Windows: device manager (working properly - properties), cmd, powershell, tpm.msc, windows security, event viewer tpm starts running.

I don´t if it is an issue or UEFI limitation. Please care to explain? Thank you

Should I reinstall the older version V10.7.3.0.?

How can I reinstall V10.7.3.0 and uninstall V10.8.0.0?

Thank you for your support,

Best regards

Hi @SCTO,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're facing an issue with the TPM test in your HP Notebook - 15-af101np. The failure code you received suggests there might be a problem with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Here are a few steps you might consider to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting TPM Issues

  1. Verify TPM Status in BIOS:
    • Restart your computer and press F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
    • Navigate to the Security tab and select TPM Security.
    • Check whether TPM is enabled. You might need to reset the TPM or modify its settings.

  2. Clear TPM:
    • Sometimes clearing TPM can resolve certain errors. You can find the option to clear the TPM in the same BIOS menu. Note that clearing TPM might result in the loss of any data encrypted by TPM.

  3. Update BIOS:
    • Ensure your BIOS version is the latest available. Visit Official HP® Support to check for any new updates.

  4. Re-run the Test:
    • After performing the above steps, retry running the TPM test using the latest version of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello VikramTheGreat,

Thank you for your clarification.

My laptop has installed the latest BIOS/UEFI (F.28 of 05/17/2019)  and HP PC Diagnostics tool UEFI - version 10.8.0.0.

TPM is enabled in BIOS, Windows 10 doesn´t report any issue via  device driver, cmd and powershell command lines, TPM.msc tool, eventviewer tpm is loaded on boot and running. Why doesn´t Windows report any issue, but HP PC diagnostics UEFI does?

I am going to upgrade to windows 11, (install everything from scratch),  after upgrading ram and add a ssd drive , and since clearing TPM will delete data, I would rather wait until I start the upgrade.

What is your advice? is it better to clear on Windows or on BIOS?

I am also running tests on ram, ssd drive, cpu and tpm - after hardware upgrade and before installation.

Regarding CPU - in the first post, I described that the latest version of HP PC diagnostics UEFI freezes when testing the CPU, but the previous didn´t (V10.7.3.0), and there were no issues.

Is it because UEFI doesn´t support multi core processing?

For example, to run memtest86 UEFI I had to add an exception to a file with the motherboard product ID (80CC), to skip multi processor support on boot, because memtest86 would freeze.

Please clarify.

Thank you,

Best Regards,
