I am getting the above error when I run HP PC Hardware Diagnostic Windows 2.7.2.0.  Anyone knows what's causing this?

Try these steps:

1. Uninstall and Reinstall HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows

  • Uninstall the current version:
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
    • Find HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows and click on Uninstall.
  • Download the latest version:
    • Visit the HP Support page to download the latest version of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows.
    • Follow the installation instructions.

2. Run as Administrator

  • Sometimes, running the application as an administrator can resolve issues:
    • Right-click on the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows executable file.
    • Select Run as administrator.

3. Ensure Windows is Up-to-date

  • Check for any pending Windows updates and install them:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Click on Check for updates.

4. Check for Compatibility Issues

  • Ensure that the version of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows you are attempting to run is compatible with your version of Windows 11.

5. Perform a Clean Boot

  • Performing a clean boot can help eliminate startup conflicts that might be causing the issue:
    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab.
    • Check Hide all Microsoft services.
    • Click Disable all.
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    • Disable all startup items.
    • Restart your PC and try running the diagnostic tool again.

6. Check for System File Corruption

  • Run the System File Checker utility to check for and repair corrupted system files:
    • Press the Windows + X keys and select Windows Terminal (Admin).
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    • Allow the scan to complete and follow any instructions provided.
