Does anyone know if HP has an official "EOL" policy for their notebooks and desktops? From what I have gathered across various sources: HP tends to end all forms of support for a notebook/desktop 3-5 years after release, with the exception that they will keep on making drivers for new Windows releases. They then stop pushing out drivers for Windows about 10 years after the release of the notebook/desktop.

1) Is this true, is this simply good as a rule of thumb but only loosely true, or is this not good to rely upon at all?

2) Does anyone know any official HP statements, documents, etc. that would serve as a concrete reference for this "policy," be it litigated or strictly de facto?

Thanks!

Hi,

As a general rule this is true. Probably Buisnessproduct will have better support than regular devices. The support aslos tends to fade out. As a new notebook will have constant updates and then always less and less until only updates are provided when a bug is found.

Here is a doc which talks about retired products and reads :

"Typically, HP stops supporting most products after 10 years"

Hope it helps,
