Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have HP Pavallion G6 laptop with intel i3-2310M cpu @2.1o ghz, which got upgraded from windows 7 home basic to windows 10 recently. as of now it has DDR3 4 gb ram but i feel system performance / response is lil slow.

Hoe to improve its performance? the options i got to know are..

Option 1: Increase RAM by another 4 gb and use max 8 gb ram speed....will it work?

Option: Can this system accept SSD 120GB / 240 GB to install (may be by removing DVD drive) and switch OS and other software installation to SSD and HHD for storage....Will it work??

Please provide expert opinions  (will i go for option 1 or 2 or both)??

Thanks

Rishi Maheshwari

Hi:

I would go for option 1, and for the drive, I would never recommend that you put a SSD in place of the optical drive.

The reason for this is because the sata port where the optical drive goes, is a slower sata speed than where the hard drive goes.

So, if you want to replace the current 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD, that would work very nicely.

You can reinstall W10 for free by making W10 installation media using the media creation tool at the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

When you get to the part of the installation where you are asked to enter a product key, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
