My HP Pavilion 14-al061nr laptop's battery hasn't been charging fully no matter how long I leave it plugged in (it only gets as high as ~77%), and when I ran an HP diagnostics scan on it I was told that the battery failed. Does this mean I need to replace the battery?

I received your message, got in touch with HP and ordered a new battery. Thank you for your help.
By the way: I had to replace this laptop's battery about a year ago, and HP gave me the option for someone to come to my house to install it, but I wasn't given that option this time. Is this because the laptop's warranty has expired, or is there another reason?

Hi @Akril, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @KrazyToad, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.
I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.
I'm glad to know you contacted HP and order a replacement battery for your laptop.
As the battery is a customer replaceable part, customers can replace the part by themselves, so you must not have got an option for on-site replacement.
However, if you still have an onsite warranty on your PC. You can contact support and get the service options.
If you have any queries in future related to any HP products, you can always reach out to us.
We will try our best to help you out.
Take care,
Have a great day! 🙂

"As the battery is a customer replaceable part, customers can replace the part by themselves, so you must not have got an option for on-site replacement."
I'm a little confused by this, since the manual for this model laptop reads, "The battery[ies] in this product cannot be easily replaced by users themselves. Removing or replacing the battery could affect your warranty coverage."
My laptop is no longer under warranty, so that must be why I wasn't offered the option for someone from HP to replace the battery at my home this time. Thank you for clearing that up.
