My laptop keyboard has all of a sudden started to malfunction with the issue where specific keys on the left-hand side appear to be detecting multiple presses as well as presses for neighbouring keys.  I have already carried extensive testing following online instructions to rule out keyboard drivers.

I strongly believe this to be a keyboard hardware issue because I have entered the BIOS and normally when pressing keys you get a single beep sound, however for faulty keys a single press results in two beeps indicating two presses.

All works fine with a connected external keyboard so it is definitely a problem with the laptop keyboard.  What I want to know is why would the hardware keyboard randomly start to fail for certain keys and how this can be resolved, does it need a keyboard replacement or do you think it is loose keyboard cable connection?

The keys at fault are as follows with the outcome with a single press:

KeysOutcomeBIOS beeps
113Twice
313Twice
qqeTwice
eqeTwice
aadTwice
dadTwice
zzcTwice
czcTwice

Hi, I have a similar problem in that there seems to be a malfunction with the caps lock key. It comes on automatically when I'm typing which then freezes the mousepad (incredibly frustrating!) Like you, I have run diagnostic checks and also used a separate plug in keyboard and everything functions fine. I will be interested to see if there is a response to either your query or mine.
