I purchased a Pavilion 14 laptop before Xmas and am unfortunately being plagued by a fan issue. Whenever the laptop is charging, the fan goes into overdrive and makes an insufferable, constant whining noise, even when performing menial tasks such as browsing the internet (the laptop DOES NOT get hot). When charging I get problems with Sky Go whereby the picture skips every few seconds - wonder if this is linked as it doesn't occur when the laptop is running off the battery.
Fan noise seems to be a common problem with this laptop but I haven't seen any solutions online other than updating the BIOS - which I have tried, to no avail. Is there anything else I can try? If not it looks like I may have to return my laptop to the store.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

No luck I'm afraid. As a reminder, this is a brand new laptop. I've been experiencing these issues straight out of the box. I've checked and downloaded all HP and Windows updates. While the fan noise is part of the issue, the main problem is the drop in performance when the laptop is plugged into AC.

Since this is a brand new Notebook and as you mentioned that you are facing this issue right out of the Box, I suggest you contact the Store you purchased it from for a replacement
