Hi I have HP Pavilion 14 v025tx. What's the max RAM that I can upgrade to? Any RAM brand is okay right? Thanks

The lower end Bay Trail processor models only run the memory at 1333. You have an i7 so it will run at 1600 speed. The brand of memory you suggest is an excellent choice and I am as sure as I can be that 2 x 8 will work fine for you in dual channel.

Here's the Manual:

Service Manual

Manual says 12 gigs is the max but you have 2 slots and it well estabglishedc you can install 2 x 8 gig modules for 16 gigs.

See pages 38 and 39, There is an easy access panel for a quick look to be sure you have 2 slots for memory.

The Manual says one slot but I believe that is a mistake as it also says you can have an 8 gig and a 4gig and hard to understand how you can do  that without having 2 slots. The memory is DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM. That is 1.35 volt memory.

HP cannot specify what parts you must use. However, I would encourage you not to use No-name generic memory and get a recognized brand name module like Kingston, Crucial or something like this:

Hey thanks for the reply.

Yes I have checked and I have 2 RAM slots. You are right, it's weird that it only allows maximum to 12Gb upgradable RAM in the manual.
But this is my plan: I'm  planning to upgrade to 2x8Gb for total of 16Gb RAM - SKhynix brand. This is the ones I plan to install, and I have bought from eBay: please see first 2 photos attached.

[Default Specs: I'm running on 64 bit OS, Windows 8.1 Home, 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA Hard drive, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) - SKhynix brand]
I've also attached the 2 RAM slots photos (Please ignore the 512MB RAM-green colour in the photo. The 4Gb RAM is the default RAM). Please see the last 2 photos.

Question: On page 2 of the manual, under memory, it says: DDR3L-1600 MHz dual channel support, and DDR3L-1333 MHz dual channel support. Does that mean the second slot can only take 1333 MHz, so using 8Gb RAM in the second slot is not compatible? Or should I stick to my plan to install 2x8Gb RAM, because it should work properly?

Thanks

Joel
