Hello!

So a few months ago, my laptop (in a laptop bag) was dropped on carpet and hit an edge. There was no major damage (corner was indented), but I noticed something with the CPU fan after some time. It seems to make a rattling sound when spinning, and it's concerning.

I have tried to clean it with compressed air and whatnot, but that didn't seem to work which leads me to believe that the fan is damaged.

The fan is not available for ordering in the HP Parts store. How would I go about getting this fan?

Thanks!

Hi @Affiliate60,

I'd like to help.

Please try the below suggestions-

Step 1: Adjust the computer power settings

Step 2: Clean the air vents

Step 3: Increase the efficiency to reduce heat

Step 4: Use Task Manager to identify corrupt processes

Step 5: Update the graphics driver

Step 6: Update the BIOS

For instructions refer Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly (Windows)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Whoops, sorry for the late reply. Got caught up.

@Jay_G24,

Most of that was tried already, with the exception of 5 (no updates found). I even tried taking the fan out individually and blowing compressed air into it in a couple directions. So, I genuinely believe that the fan sustained some damage to its fins causing the rattle...

This is a hardware issue, I’d recommend you contact HP Phone Support in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
