HP Pavilion 15 Gaming PC heats up while gaming

Hey there !

I just bought an HP Pavilion Notebook 15-bc5xxx - 9th Gen i7, 4GB GTX 1650 variant. This is my first time with a gaming model. The thing is that the CPU temperature rises to 85 - 94 degree celsius while gaming, while the GPU temperature rises to about 78 - 81 degree celsius. I am just concerned whether its safe for the CPU to reach such temperatures. I don't play for long periods of time ; just for one hour, twice a day. I monitored the CPU temperatures using NZXT's CAM. I surfed the net for information and I found that 9th Gen i7s are built to withstand 95 degree celsius and such. There's a small drop in performance (just a bit, but it comes back to normal - doesn't happen all the time) and the fans are working at full speed (while gaming).

The max processor states in the advanced power settings are 100% by default. I have not overclocked the CPU / GPU ( 'cause I don't know how that stuff works, and I don't want to wreck my first laptop).

I am just concerned whether it is normal for the CPU to be at 85 - 94 degree celsius while gaming.

Oh, the CPU temperature is 40 degree celsius as I am typing this - so I guess this can be taken as my "normal" value.

Advice and tips would be appreciated !

A gaming laptop will get hot during gaming. Temps in the low 90s are normal as is full throttle fan activity. 94 is warm but its within workable limits. Just keep the rear of the laptop a little elevated to allow good airflow and you will be fine. If it creeps up to the high 90s or 100 then you need to worry a bit.
