Hello, I have bought HP Pavilion - 15-bc410nq. I want to add a SSD to it and I want to make sure what model to buy.
In the HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide I can see that the next specifications are supported:
Description Spare part number
Solid-state drive, 128 GB, SATA-3. TLC 759848-032
Solid-state drive, 128 GB, SATA-3, Value 827560-017
Solid-state drive, 256 GB, PCIe 3x4 SS, TLC 847109-005
Solid-state drive, 512 GB, PCIe 3x4 SS, TLC 847110-002
I want to add the next ssd to it: Solid-state Drive (SSD) Samsung 970 EVO, 250GB, PCI-E 3.0 x4, M.2.
Can somebody tell me if this is supported?

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see you need help in upgrading the SSD, on HP Pavilion - 15-bc410nq notebook. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you in purchasing the correct product.
After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA hard drive installed on the PC.
To get the answer to this question, Yes! you can install the Samsung 970 EVO, 250GB also you refer below HDD configuration.
HDD+SSD configuration:
1 TB, 7200 rpm, 9.5 mm hard drive + 256 GB, PCIe, NVMe, TLC, M.2 solid-state drive 1 TB, 7200 rpm, 9.5 mm hard drive + 128 GB, SATA-3, M.2 solid-state drive (value) 2 TB, 5400 rpm, 9.5 mm hard drive + 128 GB, SATA-3, M.2 solid-state drive (value)
Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello, @Echo_Lake!
Thank you for the answer provided. I have the same laptop as @Robert0n3 with the exact same HDD, and I intend to purchase the same SSD.
So I want to combine the 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA HDD with the Samsung 970 EVO, 250GB on the M2 free slot (as you provided a clear answer that it is possible).
The part I don't understand is 'HDD+SSD configuration:
1 TB, 7200 rpm, 9.5 mm hard drive + 256 GB, PCIe, NVMe, TLC, M.2 solid-state drive 1 TB, 7200 rpm, 9.5 mm hard drive + 128 GB, SATA-3, M.2 solid-state drive (value) 2 TB, 5400 rpm, 9.5 mm hard drive + 128 GB, SATA-3, M.2 solid-state drive (value)' - I don't get what are these. I can't find the 1TB 5400 rpm HDD and I see that for the 5400 rpm HDD listed above it can only be combined with a 128 GB SSD. Am I misinterpreting the information?
Long story short, should I disregard the information in the quotes and just buy the SSD, because it is compatible?
Thanks for the answer and sorry for my lack of knowledge!

@Echo_Lake are you sure? Because it looks that this laptop has a B key M.2 socket and 970 EVO has M key.
I also have this laptop and i would like to buy a M.2 SSD but i don't really know what to choose.

So.... it seems that for this laptop, the ssd m.2 needs to be put upside down. Well, thank you very much HP!
I found this video:

The build is similar with this model and it has the same M.2 slot near the battery.

Guys, if any of you bought a SSD that matches the port on the motherboard please let me know what SSD did you buy.
I'm really confused.
Since the motherboard is upside down then it is a M key SSD slot, right?
And that Samsung 970 should fit though..
It's been a month and I still haven't figured out what I should buy.
Many thanks!
