Hello HP Community,
I own an HP Pavilion 15-eg3036TU and I’m planning to upgrade the RAM from 16GB to 32GB to support my development work, which involves running memory-intensive virtual machines.
I ran the command:
wmic memphysical get MaxCapacityEx
and it returned 16777216, which translates to 16GB as the reported maximum capacity.
However, the Crucial System Scanner (Scan results) lists my model as supporting up to 64GB (2×32GB) of DDR4-3200 memory. This conflicting information has left me uncertain.
Can anyone confirm:
Whether a 32GB (2×16GB) RAM upgrade is supported on this model?
Has anyone successfully installed 32GB RAM in a Pavilion 15-eg3036TU or similar 15-eg3xxx series laptop?
Are there any BIOS/firmware limitations I should be aware of?
I’d really appreciate guidance before making a purchase of RAM sticks. Thank you!
Best regards,
Jaidheer

Thanks for the help @banhien and @tk_srq
I went ahead and upgraded my RAM to 32 GB.
This is the RAM stick I used (Link to Crucial Page)
My laptop recognized the sticks instantly and I was able to get full Transfer Rate of 3200 MT/s
I performed benchmarking using userbenchmark.com and delivered promising results
Surprisingly I am still getting wmic MaxCapacityEx output as 16GB even after upgrade!
Cheers 🙂

Its specs
It uses Intel 13th processor therefore it should support 64GB of RAM max.

See this thread where the author reported the successful installation of 32 GB (2x16 GB) memory in a 15-eg3030ua, even though the wmic command reported 16 GB.

You should be able to install 2x16 GB RAM.
