I recently upgraded my ram on my energy star hp pavilion 15 now it doesnt recognize my battery at all. Ive tried putting the old ram back in and nothing changed. I changed the battery with another stock hp battery but it still doesnt recognize the battery, i have also updated my bios, reset cmos battery, and updated battery drivers in device manager but nothing works.

Hi @LiamMcL,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand you're experiencing an issue where your HP Pavilion 15 (Energy Star) laptop no longer recognizes the battery after upgrading your RAM to a Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4 3200MHz SODIMM module. You've taken all the correct steps, and we’ll help you move forward.

1. Perform a Full EC Reset (Hard Reset)

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger.
  • Hold the power button for 30–60 seconds.
  • Plug in the charger and boot up.

2. Boot Without Battery, Then Reinsert

  • Power off and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Boot the laptop on AC power only.
  • Shut down, reinsert the battery, and boot again.

3. Install HP Support Assistant & Run Battery Check

4. Try Lower-Speed RAM or Adjust BIOS Settings

  • If your BIOS allows it, try manually setting RAM speed to 2666MHz or 2400MHz.
  • Alternatively, test with a different brand or lower-speed RAM to see if the issue resolves.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
