Concerning the HP Pavilion 17-g161us

 

I can not find a specific video for this exact model or a users manual for the exact model.

I see on some similar models that the motherboard needs removed to upgrade the ram and on some models the motherboard doesn't need removed.

Can someone tell me if the motherboard will need removed (or not) ?

I have upgraded the drive to an SSD and am confident in getting that far...

Hi:

 

You do not have to remove the motherboard, just the bottom cover.

 

See chapter 6 of the service manual for how to remove and replace the memory.
