Product: HP Pavilion dv4-2045dx Entertainment Notebook PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello someone gave me a hp pavilion  2045dx laptop and I noticed the cpu is replaceable but the current CPU on the machine is the AMD Turion II M500 @ 2.2ghz and was wondering what the fastest processor this device can take. I am running Windows 10 64bit. Is it possible? Thanks.

I couldn't find a service manual for the dv4-2045dx model, but the spec sheet https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c01868471  shows the cpu that you have. The Turion II line tops out at AMD Turion II N570 which clocks at 2.7 Ghz. Not much of an upgrade to me. 

 

You would do much better dropping in a SATA3 SSD and adding memory. It came with 4GB, upgradeable to 8GB if you can find some DDR2 nowadays.
