Is the 16GB (onboard)  (2x8) dual-channel or (1x16) single channel?

 

Does anybody know?

Hi:

 

You will have to contact HP sales and ask to confirm.

 

The maintenance and service guide does not provide any info on whether or not the memory is single channel or dual channel.

I would assume based on the motherboard diagram in chapter 5, pages 39, and again on page 44, those 8 blocks (chips) appear to be the onboard memory and they are arranged in two groups of 4.

 

I would also imagine the models that come with 8 GB of onboard memory are arranged the same way, but the 8 blocks would contain half the memory.

 

That would be a poor design not to have such a modern notebook's memory running in dual channel mode.
