HP Pavilion - 15-cc067cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I hope someone can assist. My HP Pavilion - 15-cc067cl keyboard backlight is very dim and I have searched the internet for key options that might increase the backlight and or BIOS settings. We have a pair of these laptops that were bought 2 weeks apart. The other laptop is pretty bright . Any help would be great.

Thanks

Gary

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Firstly, let's perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

This issue isn't with the LCD it's the Keyboard Backlight that's so dim. I did the hard rest and nothing changed

Firstly, let's perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data.
Next: Boot the computer into the Bios screen and check if the dark Display/Dim is seen.

  • Turn off you're computer
  • Make sure you have connected the power cable
  • Turn on your notebook, as it is starting press the  F10 button repeatedly.
This would confirm if it's either a hardware failure or an issue with the graphics card drivers, so we may reinstall and update the drivers to fix the issue.

And, also you can connect the computer to an external monitor or TV and check for the Dim display is seen.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Firstly, let's update keyboard drivers and check:

  • Open Start.
  • Search for Device Manager, click the top result to open the experience.
  • Expand the category with the hardware you want to update.
  • Right-click the device, and select Keyboard (HID/Standard) and update the driver.
Note: Check for the function keys' are not pressed.

Now let's uninstall the Keyboard driver from the device manager and restart your computer.
The keyboard driver will be automatically installed when is restarted.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Was it working fine earlier?
Did this happen after a recent window or software update?

Yes it use to be just fine. Just like the other identical Laptop we have. I honestly can't put a finger on when it started,Maybe 8 months ago and I've done research trying to figure it out. You know how these things are you sort of forget about them until you realize the lighting in the room isn't right and the keyboard should be much brighter. Sometimes when the lighting is to bright in the room it's better to turn the dim keyboard backlight off. Tapping the f6 key does nothing other than turne the backlight off. hold the function key doesn't work either.
