Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello! 🙂

I recently tried to upgrade my RAM (from 8GB to 16GB) in my

"HP Pavilion DV7-4057ca" after reading in an other post that it was probably possible if my laptop had an INTEL processor, which it does (I5).

Unfortunately, after the swap of the two 4GB to two 8GB of RAM, the laptop keeps rebooting (goes up to Windows Startup Screen and then reboots).
What could be the problem? ... RAM used for the upgrade is the following:

https://www.amazon.ca/Kuesuny-PC3-10600-PC3-10600S-Unbuffered-Notebook/dp/B08FJ77KTQ/

Any information would be greatly appreciated...

Thanking you in advance for your time & cooperation!

Hi, @CharlesMz

Only the notebooks with the Intel 1st Generation Quad Core processors such as the i7-820QM unofficially support 2 x 8 GB of memory.

2 x 4 GB is the max on notebooks such as yours with an Intel 1st Generation Dual Core processor.

Yours has the Intel Dual-Core i5-430M mobile processor.

@CharlesMz,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Unfortunately, it appears that your HP Pavilion DV7-4057ca can only be fitted with a maximum of 2 x 4GB RAM: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-dv7-4057ca.

Kind Regards,

You're very welcome.

The dv7 models with the Intel 2nd generation core processors and newer support 2 x 8 GB of memory, and that is indicated in the service manuals for those models.
