Pavilion G7-1070us
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Pavilion G7-1070us with an Intel i3 processor.  The model(?) is LF156UA#ABA, and I can't find any information on what the best processor type I can upgrade to.  I have seen some answers mention the i5 480, the i7 640M, or the i7 840QM, but I'm not sure which is correct.

I can't locate any info on my mobo other than it being a socket G1/PGA988.

Bonus question:  Can I take a mobo/cpu/radeon out of an AMD G7 and put it in mine.

Hi:

Your notebook has the Intel HM55 chipset, so it only supports 1st gen Intel core processors.

Both of the service manuals on your notebook's support page indicate the best processor you can install in your notebook would be the i5-480M

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to answer your question regarding installing an AMD motherboard from a different G7 notebook into yours.

Probably not unless it was also from a g7-1000 model, and if all of the ports lined up with the holes in the case, etc.
