HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook - 15-ak002nt (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bough a Samsung 980 for my HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (15-ak002nt) laptop. I installed the ssd and it did not show up in neither bios nor in disk management in windows. For solution I have tried multiple steps:

  • I have tried to reinstall the ssd to see if it really fit. Nothing changed.
  • I have tried to install Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to windows boot flash and install the driver in the windows installation screen.
  • I have tried another ssd to see if the slot was corrupted. The other ssd did not show up as well, so the slot might be broken.
  • I have tried to install the ssd to another computer to see if ssd was broken. Ssd works fine in another computer.
  • I have tried to update BIOS.
  • I have tried to remove HDD and use just the SSD.
  • I have tried a lot of different settings combinations in BIOS none worked.

After everything that I have done, nothing worked. The ssd warms up inside the computer as well so that might show something. If you have any idea any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi:

The problem you have according to chapter 1 of the service manual, is that the M.2 slot only supports SATA SSD's, not NVMe.

HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook Maintenance and Service Guide

I recommend one of the Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 SATA SSDs in a storage capacity that meets your needs and budget.
