I have an HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs3xxx and am trying to figure out how to set up 2 external monitors. I understand my type C and type A are both data transfer only but there is a smaller rectangle in front of the Type-A's that im not sure the use of. Can my Laptop handle an HDMI splitter?

Is it on the right, next to 2 USB-A ports ? That slot is for a Kensington lock which allows you to use a lock to physically lock your machine. For a HDMI splitter, you will get 2 monitors but they are the same.
If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors (and notebook monitor - total 3), please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few USB-A DisplayLink Certified options on market today including some HP products (you can select HP before Search)
