Hi @EddieRattlehead ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are Upgrading the SSD on the HP Pavilion Laptop - 15t-eg100 involves physically replacing the drive and reinstalling the operating system. Here's a step-by-step guide to assist you:

1. Determine the Compatible SSD

  • SSD Type: This laptop likely uses an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. Double-check your specific model's specifications to ensure compatibility.
  • Capacity: Choose an SSD with a larger capacity based on your storage needs

2. Prepare for the Upgrade

Back Up Data:

  • Back up all important files and settings to an external drive or cloud storage.

Create a Recovery Drive:

  • Insert a USB flash drive (at least 16GB recommended).
  • Open the Windows search bar and type "Create a recovery drive."
  • Follow the prompts to create a recovery drive for reinstalling Windows 11.

3. Replace the SSD

Turn Off and Disconnect Power:

  • Shut down the laptop and unplug the power adapter.
  • Remove the battery if it is removable (in most cases, it is internal).

Access the SSD Slot:

  • Remove the screws on the back panel using a Phillips screwdriver.
  • Carefully pry off the back cover using a plastic opening tool to avoid damage.
  • Locate the SSD (usually secured with one screw).

Remove the Old SSD:

  • Unscrew the SSD retention screw.
  • Gently pull the SSD out of its slot.

Install the New SSD:

  • Insert the new SSD at a slight angle into the M.2 slot.
  • Secure it with the retention screw.

Reassemble the Laptop:

  • Replace the back cover and screws.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter.

4. Reinstall Windows 11

Boot from the Recovery Drive:

  • Insert the recovery USB drive.
  • Turn on the laptop and press ESC repeatedly to access the startup menu.
  • Select the boot menu (F9) and choose the USB drive.

Install Windows 11:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows 11.
  • During installation, select the new SSD as the installation location.

Activate Windows:

  • Windows should activate automatically if the laptop's digital license is stored in the motherboard's firmware.

5. Install Drivers and Updates

  • Use HP Support Assistant or visit the HP Drivers & Software page to install necessary drivers.
  • Update Windows through Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

6. Restore Data

  • Transfer back files from your backup to the new SSD.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
