2. If yes, Is there anyway to clone the operating system partition alone (C drive; I have two other partitions) from the existing HDD to the new SSD.?

3. If no, Can I go with replacing my existing HDD with 2.5" SATA III SSD.? In this case, what's the compatible SSD and how can I clone operating system form my existing HDD.?

Your machine with Single storage HDD option therefore it does not have pre-installed M.2 slot for storage.

3. You can use 2.5" SSD for your machine and any standard/good SSD will work. I highly recomment Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 series. For example

You can clone existing 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA to new SSD and just a simple swap or you can do a CLEAN install Windows 10 on your machine.

Regards.

Did you verify the same Maintenance and Service Guide of the device.?

Here it's mentioned as the device is compatible with 256GB M.2 SSD. Is HP Support page providing wrong information about HP devices.?

Also, I didn't find any information relevant to your point saying "Your device with Single storage HDD option therefore it does not have pre-installed M.2 slot for storage." either in the link you've provided or anywhere in the HP support pages.
