Bonjour,

Cordialement,

Hello,

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion X360 2-in-1 14-inch laptop from LINKSOLUTIONS. Following this, I upgraded the memory to a TARGET DDR3 3200 memory stick.
https://linksolutions.ma/p/hp-pavilion-x360-14-ek1006nk-i7-1355u-14-16gb-512gb-windows-11/

However, after a few uses, the computer stopped working.

I would like to know what could be the cause of the problem and what steps to take for possible support or technical assistance.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Sincerely,

Hi @AKRAM17

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with your HP Pavilion X360 2-in-1 laptop after upgrading the memory. It sounds frustrating, but let's explore potential causes and solutions:

Possible Causes

Incompatible Memory Stick:

  • The TARGET DDR3 3200 memory stick may not be compatible with your laptop, which likely requires DDR4 memory. HP Pavilion X360 models typically support DDR4 RAM, so using DDR3 could cause system instability.

Improper Installation:

  • If the memory stick wasn’t seated correctly in the slot, it could lead to hardware issues.

BIOS or Driver Conflicts:

  • The new memory might require a BIOS update or specific drivers to function properly.

Hardware Damage:

  • If the memory stick caused a short circuit or other damage, it could affect the motherboard or other components.

Steps to Resolve

Revert to Original Memory:

  • Remove the TARGET DDR3 memory stick and reinstall the original memory. Check if the laptop powers on and functions normally.

Verify Memory Compatibility:

  • Refer to the HP Support page or your laptop’s user manual to confirm the compatible memory specifications. Typically, DDR4-2400 or DDR4-3200 SODIMM RAM is recommended.

Inspect the Memory Slot:

  • Ensure the memory slot is clean and undamaged. Use compressed air to remove any dust or debris.

Update BIOS:

  • Visit the HP Support page for your laptop model and download the latest BIOS update. Follow the instructions carefully to install it.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to access the Startup Menu.
  • Select F2 (System Diagnostics) and run memory and hardware tests.

Let me know how it goes. 😊
