I have a HP Pavilion dv5. I'm sure it's seen its better days (I bought it from someone). But it looks like it's been taken care of. I upgraded it to Windows 10 and now this thing is super slow. You can click on something and it literally takes minutes to respond.... Advise pleeeaaase!

@weedybabe
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
The processes involved in this fix are as follows:( Nella 1623)
- Open REGEDIT, Control-F then copy-paste this EnableULPS configuration file to 0.
- Turn off processes with high start-up impacts.
- Disable the fast start-up utility function.
- Enable the fast start-up again after restarting your computer.
- Your computer should start a lot faster.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I'm afraid, the product number provided does not match.
To check the compatibility of Win 10 OS with the PC, I need the exact model number of the PC
Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.
For now, run a test on the hardware components of the PC
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. Perform System Test > Extensive test. Share the result on your next post.
Also, run a performance tune up check on the PC. Click here.
Keep me posted.

Thank you for posting back.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
- Have you performed the component test? what is the result?
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: ( do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating )
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open the HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
